Announcing the Data Science Studio User Group

Data Science Studio User Group

On November 13, 2013 I founded Data Wranglers DC (DWDC). The focus of Data Wranglers has and is data engineering, the 80-90% of time spent on data projects that most people don't like to talk about. It includes everything from gathering and cleaning data to engineering the IT systems to gather, store and process all of the data.

Over the course of the past two plus years I have tried many of the available data wrangling and analysis tools, all in the hopes of saving myself, and my team, some coding time. While it's great to be able to code what you need in Python, R or SQL, if we can get our products out faster for a lower cost we'll have happier clients.

Enter Data Science Studio from Dataiku.

I've been using Data Science Studio (DSS) for close to a year. I've used it on numerous data projects at ARPC, and it helped me create my first predictive model. After trying out more than 7 different products I decided to use DSS as it was the most intuitive and powerful application, and it allowed us to use all the Python, SQL and R code we'd written.

Today I'm happy to announce that I have started the Data Science Studio User Group here in Washington, DC. This is a group for anyone interested in data science. We will exchange best practices, real use cases, Data Science Studio how-to's and related topics.

We're already off to a great start with 82 Dataikers and 19 scheduled to attend our first meetup on February 8th. For our inaugural meetup, a team from Webbmason Marketing will be speaking about building data pipelines to automatically process data.

I look forward to seeing you on February 8th, and having you as part of our growing data community.
