Data Acquisition and Wrangling with Python Workshop

District Data Labs

Eighty percent or more of the time spent on data science projects is spent acquiring data, cleaning it, and preparing it for analysis. Once we have automated its acquisition, much of it requires lengthy cleaning and formatting before it can be used. In this course you will learn how to obtain, clean, and mashup data in preparation for analysis. [Read more…]

Join Me Wednesday for Growth Hacking and Knowledge Sharing

Growth Hacking

The world henceforth will be run by synthesizers, people able to put together the right information at the right time, think critically about it, and make important choices wisely.

– Shawn DuBravac, Chief Economist and Sr. Director of Research, Consumer Electronics Association

Growth hacking is a marketing technique that blends creativity, analytical thinking, and social metrics to gain exposure and sell products. Put another way, growth hacking is concerned with using data and the insights gained from data to get more exposure (marketing) and sell more products (sales) while keeping costs low and revenues high.

On Wednesday nightI'll be talking about growth hacking at Nightowls Coworking @ Techshop in Arlington, VA., specifically: [Read more…]

Dempsey Marketing Is Closing Up Shop

For the past two years, I have had the privilege and honor of working with many entrepreneurs, building their websites, getting their books to #1 on Amazon, helping them generate more leads and helping them build and grow their businesses. It is time for me to take the next steps in my journey.

About 4 weeks ago I was recruited by Intridea, a software development firm in DC, to head up their sales and marketing as the Director of Engagement. I have decided to take that position, and my family and I will be moving (back) to DC at the end of May. I have the great fortune of becoming part of a growing company full of extremely smart people whom I can learn a lot from, and bring my knowledge to. I am excited about this opportunity, and appreciate the outpouring of support that I have received from my family, friends and clients.

As of today, Dempsey Marketing is no longer taking clients. However, if you are in need of anything website or marketing, I highly recommend four people that have been a part of my team for the past two years, and that I have known personally for even longer.

My Team

Lauri Flaquer – http://www.successwithsaltar.com/ – Lauri has helped me with my business for years, and has helped a large number of entrepreneurs gain more success. If you are trying to figure out how to create, market and sell a product (book, kits, etc.) definitely get in touch with Lauri.

Adam Teece – http://floridamarketinglabs.com/ – Adam and I have known each other for more than 5 years, have created information products together, and built hundreds of websites for clients. If you need anything done with your WordPress website, give Adam a call!

Nadia Merhai – http://www.iprojectassist.com/ – Nadia and I have known each other since I was hired as a consultant with NFi Studios, many years ago. Nadia has been helping me with social media marketing, and can absolutely help you too.

9Seeds (John Hawkins) – http://9seeds.com/ – when it comes to building seriously powerful, custom WordPress websites, I call on the team at 9Seeds. If you're a large company and need something custom, give John and his team a call.

I Wish You Great Success And Happiness

As I move on to the next phase in my life and career, I want to wish you great success and happiness.

I thank all of my clients for supporting me over the past few years, and allowing me to do the same for them.

I thank all of the loyal readers of this site for your time, comments, and social shares.

Good luck to you all!

Sincerely,

Robert Dempsey

Start The Year Right With A 2013 Budget That Matches Business Goals

I started my first business the same way many entrepreneurs do – I up and quit my job, and simply got to work finding clients and providing services. Taking action is great, however I skipped some very necessary planning, namely creating a budget. With the new year coming up, there is no time like the present to take action, and create a 2013 budget that helps you achieve your business' goals.

Believe it or not, it can be a lot of fun, even if you aren't an accountant. And, we've got something to help you get started. [Read more…]
