After I published my No More Compromise post I had an interesting conversation with someone who thought I was going through a mental breakdown. Quite the contrary! Something happened inside me after I hit publish – I felt a freedom I hadn't felt in a long, long time.
After I had that conversation with this person, during which I was asked “why would you push through your fear and do something you're afraid of”, I realized something profound – this person and I live in completely different worlds. Literally.
And THAT is the Three Principles in effect my friend.
I've started writing about The Three Principles because they make sense of this thing you and I call life. They explain how we experience life, and give us a new frame of reference from which we can work.
I know that sounds heady, but bear with me a moment.
The Three Principles are:
- Energy: the raw material of life from which everything is made. Physics has proven that everything we see, hear, feel, taste or touch is made up of the same source energy. It's science!
- Consciousness: this is our individual consciousness; it gives us the ability to experience our own version of life. Individual consciousness is why you and I can have completely different views of the same event. We're each in our own little world.
- Thought: to use a painting analogy energy is the paint and thought is the paintbrush. Our life is the canvas and consciousness allows us to appreciate the painting. Thoughts constantly come and go, therefore our experience is constantly changing.
Thoughts by themselves can do nothing, they mean nothing; they are mere energy – neurons firing inside of our brains. But when we pour our energy into them that's when they begin to feel real. And the more energy we give them, the more real they become to us.
So here's the bottom line: if we want to change our lives, we need to change our thoughts, and give our energy to what it is we want, rather than to what it is we don't want.
Wherever our energy goes, that's the direction our life will head in.
This is the topic of an upcoming live, online workshop I'm holding February 27th at 2PM EST (convert to your timezone).
In this online workshop we discuss The Three Principles and how to use them to change your life.
